Me 2026
ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings explore the animal world through luminous color, layered texture, and expressive mark-making. Working primarily in acrylic and oil on large-scale canvas, I build compositions rooted in close observation of nature while reaching toward something imaginative and symbolic.
Each work begins with the animal as subject — its form, movement, and presence within a environment. Through deliberate experimentation with color, scale, and surface, I develop paintings that are both visually dynamic and conceptually grounded in the rhythms of the natural world.
Craft is central to my practice. I use high-quality materials and texture to reinforce the physicality of the work — a painting should announce itself as a handmade object before it announces anything else. This commitment to quality extends across formats, from large statement works to more accessible pieces, allowing collectors to engage at different levels.
As a member of Artists for Conservation, my practice is tied to purpose. Ten percent of all original sales is donated to Animal Balance in support of animal welfare and conservation initiatives — because the natural world that inspires this work deserves active protection, not only artistic celebration. ARTIST’S BIO
Michelle Casale is a Florida-based contemporary painter whose work explores a magical wilderness where realism and imagination merge through luminous color, layered texture, and symbolic natural imagery.
Casale’s technical foundation was shaped through early professional experience in a decorative arts studio producing large-scale commissions for the hospitality industry. This intensive training developed her command of scale, surface, and specialized painting mediums, influencing the richly textured quality that remains central to her practice today. She studied Art, Humanities, and Communications, complemented by advanced study with painter Keith Thirgood, sculptor Miles Laventhall and critical dialogue within Crit Lab.
Her work has been exhibited at the Boca Museum of Art, selected for the Colors of Humanity international showcase.
Alongside her studio practice, inspiration gathered from time spent with Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida deeply informs her exploration of the sentient, interconnected bonds between animals, people, and the environments they share. Currently active in gallery outreach and fine art sales, Casale plans to channel her studio success into a powerful vehicle for habitat preservation dedicating ten percent of all original sales to Animal Balance in support of animal welfare and related conservation initiatives.
